I WON!

I can't believe it but this weekend I WON A BRAND NEW HARLEY DAVIDSON! I attended an event for the Family Guidance and Outreach Center of Lubbock. They were raising money for abused children and they had a contest to win a Harley. My name was drawn to be a finalist out of several thousand entries. There were 30 finalists. They then eliminated each finalist one by one till they got down the final 3. I couldn't believe that my wasn't called and that I had made it to the final 3! The final three prizes were a helmet, a plasma TV and the grand prize was a Harly. My name was not announced for the helmet so I looked at John and we couldn't believe that I was going to either win the TV or the bike! We would have been happy with either but then they called the winner of the TV and it wasn't me. John and everyone at our table errupted in excitement and I FROZE! I couldn't believe my luck that I had just won a H-D! I started screaming - I WON, I WON, I WON! John had to push me to the stage where got on MY new bike and a crowd formed around me and people were congratulating me and taking my picture. I was so excited and tears were in my eyes. The announcer asked me "Now that you have won what are you going to do next?" I replied "I'm going to DISNEYLAND!" I'm not sure if I am going to keep the bike because I have the option to take the cash and I am thinking of paying off my student loans. If I did that other than my car I would be debt free! I still can't believe that I won it. Thank you Family Guidance and Outreach Center!
Did you know that 227 children died in Texas last year from child abuse? The Family Guidance and Outreach Center of Lubbock's slogan is "It shouldn't hurt to be a child" and they are working to provide support and education to battered children and their families. This is a great organization and I plan to get more involved.

Fort Worth Zoo

We took Blaise to the Fort Worth Zoo last weekend for a little pre-summer vacation. The zoo is Blaise's favorite place to visit. We took him last year and he has been talking about going back ever since.
Here is Blaise brushing one of the animals at the petting zoo with John and Carson. Carson is John's sister Kathy's grandson. Carson is a year younger than Blaise and if you ever get to meet him he will melt your heart because he is so much fun to be around. He is so animated when he talks and his facial expressions are HILARIOUS! He cracks Blaise up too!
Blaise in the Wells Fargo Wagon posing for a picture with a $4.00 cookie in his hand. Yep we actually paid $4.00 for a cookie in the shape of a lion. I hope it was the best cookie he ever tasted. Just kidding Blaise you are worth it!

TCU Invitational

One of the reasons we were in Dallas was to watch my cousin, Bryan, compete in the TCU Invitational Track Meet. He runs the 400 Meter Hurdles and the Mile Relay for Tech. He won his leg in the mile relay and dominated the hurdle event. He is a Senior at Tech and is also an All American. He is AWESOME!

My cousin David was there to cheer Bryan on even though he is a graduate of TCU. Here he is with two of his kids Tanner and Morgan. What cuties. We later went and celebrated at his home in Haslet.
At the track meet I recognized the gentleman pictured here with John before John did. He is Larry Brown, who played for the Dallas Cowboys in the 90's. He was the MVP of the SuperBowl in 1995. John and my dad talked with him off and on during the track meet. He was a very nice guy. John and Larry exchanged suite numbers at Texas Stadium and he told us to stop by during a game. You can bet I will stop by as soon as possible! Larry was there to support a friend who happened to be running against my cousin. Needless to say Bryan won without a struggle! Go Bryan! Here is Bryan after the meet. Victory is sweet. Congratulations Bryan and good luck at the Big 12.

Texas Rangers

John and I took Blaise to his first professional baseball game last weekend. We had so much fun! The Rangers ended up loosing but we got to eat so much junk food and the weather was beautiful .
Blaise eating cotton candy. He actually didn't like it very much but he gave it a try.
I love this picture, they look so cute with their hats on backwards.

Most Embarassing Moment

Well it is pretty hard for me to get embarassed. The only thing that I can think of is the story that I used during my Southwest Airlines interview.
On my wedding day I had my mom and dad walk me down the isle and it was the first time I walked in my dress without holding part of the skirt. Since both parents were walking with me I didn't have a free hand to hold up my skirt so when the church doors opened and the music began to play I took my first step and my foot caught my dress and I stumbled and so the whole way down the isle I had to kicking my dress forward with my foot and then I would take a step. It was pretty emabarassing.

The second most embarassing moment was a few months after my son was born and I dressed him up to go to church. He was in his first pair of blue jeans and cute blue polo type shirt. I was so proud of him. When it is time for communion I get in line while carrying him and half way through the line Blaise passes the loudest gas and it smells so bad. I was so embarassed for both of us.
